Local Conservation Input Meeting

What: Local Work Group Meeting

When: 9:00am Monday, April 11.

Where:  Ag. Service Center Conference Rm, 900 Robert Street (behind north “McDonalds” )

Why:

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Douglas Soil & Water Conservation District will be holding a meeting to gather input on local natural resource concerns in Douglas County.  The meeting is being held to gather concerns from local interest groups and individuals in an effort to make sound decisions on protecting our natural resources (soil, water, air, plants, and animals).  Representatives from farm groups, fishing or wildlife clubs, lake associations, Ag business, etc. are encouraged to come.

The items gathered from this meeting will be presented to the Local Work Group who is responsible for setting priorities and ranking for conservation programs here in Douglas County.  Programs such as the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP)and the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) and Wetland Reserve Program are available programs which require Resource Concerns to be identified.  The Local Work Group is responsible for addressing the natural resource needs of the county by setting priorities which will help put funding to address those resource needs.
