Tree Service
The Douglas Soil and Water Conservation District’s tree program was developed to provide landowners with an affordable option to establish trees for conservation practices.
Trees provide many conservation benefits including reduced soil erosion, wildlife habitat improvement, protect water quality, and increased aesthetics.
Our inventory includes a variety of small shrubs, large shrubs/small trees, deciduous trees and conifers (bare root/potted).
In addition to the sale of trees and shrubs, the SWCD staff can provide FREE site designs or species selection assistance based on soil types or conservation practices. Douglas SWCD offers custom services such as tree planting, fabric mulch installation, and tube installation.
Depending on the tree planting and practice, you may be eligible to federal or state cost-share programs to help pay for the associated costs.
Planting Charges
Plantings are by hand or with a tree planter.
$.75 per tree with our tractor for planting
$2.00 per bareroot tree- Hand Planting
$4.00 per potted tree. Hand Planting (one gallon)
$150.00 minimum planting charge.
$150.00 out of county Transportation fee.

2025 trees sales are live! Please call the office, stop by or mail in your completed order form.

Tree Pick-up Instructions
**Please Note** – Post cards will be sent out with information regarding this years tree pick up. We ask all orders are paid in full prior to pick up day. We are requiring all tree payments to be mailed in to the office no later then April 15.
2025 No-Till Drill
Drill Rental Dates
Drill dates are available on a first come first serve basis.
Weather permitting, the drill will be used on the day(s) scheduled in order to maintain a timely routing schedule for other landowners.
Rental Responsibilies
The Douglas Soil and Water Conservation District’s No-till Drill program is designed to promote soil and energy conservation practices, and will be available to landowners to assist in this process.
The Renter of the No-till Drill agrees to the following
- To clean mud and dirt from the drill after use and return the drill in the same condition as recieved. The district has the right to issue a fee of $150 if the drill needs to be cleaned and returned to service.
- To provide a tractor and operator.
- To be responsible for damages done to the drill because of willful neglect or carelessness.
- Equipment shall be limited to the location and number of acres identified. Moving equipment by the lessee to other locations and/or acres is prohibited unless approved in advance by district. Resetting or tampering with acres counters is also prohibited.
- To report any breakdown immediatly to the Douglas SWCD office or drill manager.
- To grease drill daily when in use.
- To remove excess seed from box when finished. (Seed left in the drill will be discarded by the District).
- Renter agrees not to hold the Douglas SWCD, its elected officials, employees, agents or volunteers responsible or liable for accidents or injuries to themselves or others.
Rental Rates
In County:
$8/ acre in county for cover crops (If amount is less, will still be charged the minimum of $150)
$10/acre in county – ($150 minimum)
$30/acre ($150 minimum) This includes No-till drill rental, tractor rental and staff to operate. (regardless of crop planted)
Out of County:
$13/acre out of county ($150 minimum)
$150 Out of county transportation fee (in addition to the minimum fee)
No Till Drill Requirements
Recommended is a 45 HP tractor or larger
