Who do i call about concerns with animals?
The Department of Natural Resources (MN DNR) is the one that deals with all of this. The closest one is located in Glenwood. Their number is 320-634-7320. learn more >
Is it possible to order trees year round?
The Short answer is No. We start selling trees in November of each year (typically done the first part of April – but availability might be limited for certain species at that point). Tree pick up is the last part of April every year.
Is it possible to order ones that are not on the order form?
We most certainly will try to special order other shrubs and trees for you. Please reach out to the office before the end of January and we would be happy to help. learn more >
Is the Minnesota Buffer Law still a thing?
Yes! The Minnesota Buffer Law is still in effect, and staff from our office are out yearly doing spot checks to make sure sure sights are still in compliance.
What is the Regulation for Wetlands?
The regulations vary based on what kind of a wetland it is. There are some that are state, and some that are federal, and each one needs its own approval process before work is begun. Regardless of the type of wetland, theya are not to be filled.
Who do I call about a permit for building or shoreland?

Are Native plantings required for Riprap?
Yes they are! Seeds or plugs are ok as long as it is a native species.. This goes for any projects cost shared by the Douglas SWCD and per the Douglas County Ordinances. learn more >
